Motivation? ...Inspiration? ... Where ARE you?!?

Ok... So... I'm just really horrible at writing. I keep saying I'm going to blog. "Oh yeah! I'm totally gonna blog! Like ALOT! It's going to be SOOOO awesome!!"

Um... yeah...then I sit down to write and my mind is a total blank. And there's so many distractions! The cat, the sad looking plant that needs to be repotted, the cat, food, the cat, the random text message from that one person I haven't talked to in a long time, books, the cat....Oh wait! My skate parts came in today?! Not to mention the fact that I've been spending way too much time playing zombie killing video games. How do people do it?!?

Well... Perhaps I should go somewhere else. Somewhere where it's quiet. With less distractions. With no cat!

So here I am. Sitting at this tea house, sipping from my little pot of fresh brewed peach green tea, with this totally relaxing background music and bubbling water fountain. And guess what? My mind is still trying to travel anywhere but where I want it to. Focus brain! Yes, I know... the sun shining out the window IS beautiful. And I know the lady sitting across the way is totally mesmerizing you with her mad knitting skills, but writing will be good for you! How else are all the rad people out in the interwebs gonna get a sense of who you are?

The thing is, I just haven't been very motivated lately. I know I have things I should be working on. I should be drawing more, designing more, breaking glass more. I have a million and one excuses why I haven't been doing those things. But in the end, that's all they are. Just excuses. I just haven't been feeling it lately.

Maybe if I blog, get some of my thoughts out, it will jumpstart my motivation a bit. But also give you all a glimpse into the life of Shana. Let you get to know me a little better. To see some of the creative process, the ups and downs, and where some of my art inspiration (or lack of) comes from.

I HAVE made two projects this year so far. Well.. One is complete and the other just needs a few things done to be considered finished. They came about because of a couple of stained glass challenges that were going around on Instagram.

Challenge #1: Create and complete a new mermaid design. I saw the challenge a little late and only had two days to get it done before the deadline.

Challenge #2: Put something you love into a heart. Naturally I had to put my cat in there! This is the one that isn't finished quite yet. I need to put hanger on, clean up the solder lines a bit, and put some patina on her... because I think black solder lines will look better on this one.
